no man's a jester playing shakespeare 'cross your throne room floor

Paraphrased but accurate phone conversation regarding junior class play at [livejournal.com profile] mr_t00by's school:

[livejournal.com profile] mr_t00by: So you know how we're doing Macbeth this year?

[livejournal.com profile] primroseburrows: Yeah?

[livejournal.com profile] mr_t00by: So, guess who I'm playing?

[livejournal.com profile] primroseburrows: Um. Macbeth??

[livejournal.com profile] mr_t00by: Yep.

[livejournal.com profile] primroseburrows: *squees and gushes uncontrollably*

[livejournal.com profile] primroseburrows: You'll be careful, right? Don't do anything dangerous like climbing on high ladders and stuff.

[livejournal.com profile] mr_t00by: Okay.

When Dorks Collide. It's not a pretty picture.

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS.

Well, the more acting he does, the more he will find out about the "curse" of the Scottish play. I'm so bad that when the name of one of the characters (or the play itself) is an answer on Jeopardy, I won't use it (it's ALWAYS "The Scottish Play" in my house).

I did my acting in high school and college, but I don't think I got superstitious about TSP until college... which is when I played Ophelia in Hamlet. :D

He knows about the curse (being a Waldorf kid has its perks ;)), but he's 17 and doesn't care. I'm sort of supestitious about it myself, but I'm not IN the play, so I figure I can say its name.

You were Ophelia? How cool is that? I'm jealous.

I never say the name, even not being in the play... the superstition runs deep in my veins (I probably didn't care when I was 16, but maybe at 17 I cared.)

Yeah, I was 'Phelia :D It was teh awesome! We had a female Hamlet, too (a role which I was also up for, but didn't get, mostly, I think, due to my lack of stature. I'd have made a kick-ass Hamlet! Tho I did love my Hamlet, she was awesome...)

I think I posted a pic on my blog at some point... let me scrounge around.... it could take a minute or two...

Hmmm... I found a review online: http://www.press-enterprise.com/newsarchive/1998/03/11/889574141.html

but I could not find pictures... I thought there was a picture of me in the archive of former productions at the theater page of my uni, but I can't find it...
