Just out of curiosity: is your mother using any iron tablets to help with the anaemia? I have had chronic anaemia myself (due to a hereditary disease that causes daily nosebleeds) and have had trouble with iron tablets because they didn't work. I solved it by no longer using the nose spray that my doc prescribed (because that actually gave me more nosebleeds) and taking extra vitamin C for the duration of the treatment. The proof is in the pudding as they say and my blood tests have been good ever since I started taking the extra vitamin C :)

Sometimes it's good to be critical. Just because you are not a doctor doesn't mean that you cannot do your homework, does it? Patients who suffer from chronic diseases are usually pretty aware of what does or doesn't work for their bodies (as you say, we are not machines and each react differently to a treatment). Is it possible for you to get a second opinion or change doctors?

My best wishes to you and your mother! I hope her health improves soon.

Take care,
Nine
