names have a certain sound for me (I'm sure that's true for everyone, but it's not the same sound for all of us). And for me, Fraser is not a "Ben". He just isn't. And so I like it when Ray either keeps calling him "Fraser" (because, yes, IMHO last names can be as familiar and gentle as first or nicknames), or starts calling him "Benton", because for me that's what he is.

I've had RayK call him "Ben" in some of my earlier stuff, but I can't seem to get Ray to do it any more. In my head, he calls him "Fraser" or, more familiarly, "Frase." Since we hear Ray call him "Benton-buddy" one time, I think "Benton" might work sometimes, too. But Fraser it is, for most purposes.
