I've used them in dialogue and thought, 'I don't care what people think, that semicolon belongs there,' and now I know I am justified. Yay!

And besides, sometimes you just have to use them. I mean, come on, it's impossible to write Fraser dialogue without them. He even thinks with semicolons (and lots of parenthetical phrases).
