Her true beliefs notwithstanding, she knew that in-your-face rhetoric spewed more for shock value than rational debate could get her media attention, and since the media tilts left (for the most part), how better to bait them and assure attention than to go as far right as possible. Media attention, favorable or no, would guarantee exposure for her books, lectures, etc. In other words, $$$.
