I'm not saying that everything the administration is doing should be passed through without question. What I'm saying is that a bill that was the equivalent of hugs and puppies would still need all 60 Democratic votes to pass. And no administration, right or left, has ever had this that kind of difficulty AFAIK. Also, I don't ascribe to everything the current administration does, or even mostly everything (the current healthcare bill has me tearing my hair out, for instance, and I'm the jury's still out on Afghanistan as far as I'm concerned).
I'm not saying at all that Republicans shouldn't have intelligent, informed ideas that are contrary to a lot of Obama policies, nor am I saying they shouldn't vote according to these. Of COURSE they should, that's the job of the opposition. I just think it's really odd that there needs to be a supermajority for everything.
