RIP Kate McGarrigle.

patchfire just told me about this. I hadn't realised she had been ill.

My heart goes out to Anna and Rufus and Martha and their families. So very sad.

I was blown away--I had no idea she had cancer. I think I knew she'd had it in the past, but not anything recent.

It's a double legacy because she leaves us her own huge body of beautiful work and then all those awesome kids. Man. What a loss.

Yep. And from everything I've read, she and Rufus adored each other. She supported him when he was an out gay preteen. She just loved her kids for themselves, without anything close to judgement. So I figure if it weren't for all that unconditional love and support, her kids wouldn't be the awesome people that they are. *sends them good thoughts*
