what if the earth had rings like saturn?

Fullscreen this one, it's very pretty! Also, I think the lyrics to Ave Maria are sung in German (correct me if I'm wrong, plz), which makes the whole thing even cooler.

Link is from an entry in World Building Rules!, which is a blog written by my friend Karen. I highly rec it as a great source of info for writers as well as for, well, everyone else.

Coooool.

What would the effect (if any) be on tidal systems, I wonder? And photoregulated cycles of living things, if the night were much brighter, constantly, and it varied by latitude? Rings not having a phase cycle, it'd be different from just the moon, I think. :O

Hmm. I hadn't thought about rings not having a phase cycle. I bet crops would be planted differently, too--a lot of old planting methods have planting times based on specific lunar phases.

Wow. That is very cool. Also fascinating. As are Meres' questions & speculations.

A favor: By any chance, could you put the vid behind a cut? It's borking my Friends page. :-)
