Date: 2004-03-13 05:07 am (UTC)In a totally different vein, my sister had her baby yesterday!!! Five pounds, six ounces, nineteen & a half inches and Mommy & baby are fine. His name is Matthew but we all call him Peanut (during Cher's first ultrasound, the doctor told her that he was about the size of a peanut). Might I say, with no prejudice at all, that her little boy is perfect. :) Seriously, his skin is so soft that when I touch it, I can barely even feel it, and he never scratched himself in the womb like so many babies do. Not sure that he's truly focusing on anything just yet, but those eyes are constantly wandering around, taking everything in, and he has the most curious look on his face all the time. When I held him for the first time I could barely believe that he already is trying to lift up his head (no way he could do it, but damned if he didn't try!). And he's so contented! All day long, being passed from person to person, and he never once cried (even when the nurse took his temp rectally). He's a tiny little thing, but that won't last. When the nurse left Cher to breast feed him for the first time, she told her she'd be happy if Peanut ate for 5-10 minutes. Thirty-two minutes later, he was finished. :) We're going back down to see them again today.
No, no, I'm not in the least bit prejudiced. Not Aunt Missy.

Date: 2004-03-13 07:05 am (UTC)Hmm, I guess I'm pretty safe, unless they start sending my patients off to China or something. Although...there are those patients that I really wouldn't mind sending...*g*
Yay for baby! I know you were concerned about him. I love the name Matthew (I can even deal with "Matt", which is odd considering my loathing of most nicknames). And of course you're not biased. Every family has The Most Beautiful Baby In The WorldTM.
Tell Cher not to give up on the breastfeeding if and when she starts to get sore. The soreness doesn't last very long, and oh, it's so worth it! *hugs* Congratulations, Auntie.
