Current-borne, wave-flung, tugged hugely by the whole might of ocean, the jellyfish drifts in the tidal abyss. Speedy was behind the wheel. "What are you doing all the way down here, boy?" he asked without any kind of preamble. Kansi expected a knock on the door around 4:00 a.m., from a friend who would accompany him to the mosque. There I will sing all their names!

The books were -

1. The Lathe of Heaven, by Ursula K. LeGuin.
2. The Talisman, by Stephen King and Peter Straub.
3. Guardians of the West (Book one of The Malloreon), by David Eddings.

I'm always too lazy for memes, but this is cool.

I just tried it, though, and had little luck. I think my selection of books was too weird. Maybe requires more novels?

Hydrangeas have an interesting history. The immediacy of the recording mirrors this immediacy of feeling: the Beatles themselves are seduced by this music; they too believe in its magic as they perform their first great original piece of rock 'n' roll. Few expected that Lyndon Johnson would do the same. He just doesn't mention that chance is less than one in sixty. If we understand that, and act on it, not only will life be more satisfying, right off, but our grandchildren, or our great grandchildren, might possibly see a different and marvelous world.

1. Hydrangeas - Glyn Church
2. Tell Me Why - Tim Riley
3. Mutual Contempt - Jeff Shesol
4. Had Enough? (A Handbook for Fighting Back) - James Carville
5. The Twentieth Century (A People's History) - Howard Zinn

The studio was filled with the rich odour of roses, and when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden, there came through the open door the heavy scent of the lilac, or the more delicate perfume of the pink-flowering thorn. During her illness, many arguments had been urged to persuade my mother to refrain from attending upon her. The one is well skilled in the bow, even Pandaros, and he moreover boasteth him to be Lykaon's son; and Aineias boasteth himself to be born son of great-hearted Anchises, and his mother is Aphrodite. Leon set off running. Already he knows her sweetness and loving care; later on he will understand how some men so loved her, that they did dare much for her sake.

1. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
2. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
3. The Iliad by Homer
4. Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert
5. Dracula by Bram Stoker

(Just got all of these in the mail from Barnes and Noble today. They're great little editions from "The Collector's Edition" series, specifically printed for B&N. At only $4.95 apiece, you can't go wrong)
