I think one of the major barriers to educating people is that they DON'T want to think about what a cruel thing they did/allowed, even if it was in ignorance. When I was in nursing school, we had an assignment to make a pamphlet. I did an anti-circumcision one, and TOTALLY freaked out most of the other students. The teachers had to stop the discussion because it obviously would have gone on and on and no one else would have gotten to present their work. But also I think they were worried because some of the students were so upset they were almost crying. And it really wasn't accusatory stuff, just factual. :/
