I have to work today. I don't like it, but it pays the rent. We get free food at work, though.
But you know, I could call in sick if I wanted to, or quit my job and stay home. I could do that, and nothing would happen except I'd piss people off at work, or have to find another job. I could be with my family by just travelling a few short miles by car (or ferry!). They're all well and safe and well-fed and content. And I get free food at work.
So I guess today I want to say happy Thanksgiving to everyone who's not as fortunate as we are. To my Bethany and to
lupin_spirit's husband, and to everyone who's overseas with the military and can't come home and who'd so very, very much like to. I wish I could wave my wand (yes, I do have one!) and have you all home and safe. But I can't, so I'll just say this: Thank you, from the bottom of my tree-hugging, bleeding liberal heart. I'm completely disgusted with the people who sent you away, but I'm so very thankful for all of you. Don't ever let anyone tell you you're not heroes. You all are. And I, of course, am the world's biggest sap. *g*
