I've had intermittent bouts of weepiness and wibbling today, none of which have anything to do with my blasted car that is currently in the shop waiting for the mechanic to tell me I need a new alternator, or the hour I had to wait for AAA to come with the tow truck.

Why all this wibbling, then? *takes deep breath* My oldest son, my second child, is getting married. I'm so, so happy for him and his lovely fiancee. But I think I'm kind of mourning the little boy he was and the young mother I was, such a short time, such a long time ago.

Damn, but I want a Time-Turner. Just for a day or two. Please? I'll give you chocolate for just a few more tuck-ins, a few more renditions of The Motorcycle Song to a sleepy six-year-old boy. A couple more drinks of water, a few more stories read. Fair trade?

Godsdamn midlife crisis. I hate it.

In other news, I'm going to see Mr. Dave Matthews and his band with [livejournal.com profile] blondie1026 and [livejournal.com profile] kissed_a_drunk tomorrow. Tailgate party with me daughter and me niece. Fun times! :D :D

Oh, and here:

*hugs you*

Aww, that's so sweet, all around! Many years of happiness to your son and his wife-to-be, just like the many years of happiness you and he have already had (and will continue to have, grown up or not, I'm sure). *g*

Oh, best wishes to them, but I know what you're feeling. Cry away! I know you know it's all right to feel the loss and the passing of time, because the news is happy and you feel the joy as well.

But, oh, that mid-life thing is killer. Once I cried while driving from Boulder to home, a 45 minute trip, which was hard because I was actually driving. But I felt the loss of my youth so fiercely. (I lived in Boulder when I first moved to Colorado, and to see it still full of young students hit me hard.)

Wow! Mazal tov.

(And I'm not sure if chocolate would do it--although I guess it would depend what kind of chocolate.)

Maybe there will be babies in your semi-near future? *g*

Yep, as [livejournal.com profile] queenkakia said, Mazel tov to C. and his fiancee. But more than that, *hugs* to you, sweetie. I don't have kids yet, but somehow I have no trouble on the empathy thing in this case.
