This is a dumb question, but what does the title of that movie mean? Is there a military person named Private Idaho? Or is it that someone lives in a very isolated place in Idaho, so it's as if they have the entire state to themselves? Been curious for a while, but not enough to actually watch the movie.

The title is actually taken from a B-52's song, "Private Idaho". Some of the scenes in the movie take place in Idaho, but sometimes I'm not sure if the character's actually IN Idaho anywhere else but in his head.

The film's well worth watching. River Phoenix was an amazing actor, and knowing how young he died makes the story even more intense.

I liked it a lot. I'm usually not all about ambiguous endings, but this one was good. I really think my favourite scene was the funeral. And oh, but River was brilliant, was he not? Such a sad thing. :(

I don't get why people think Keanu can't act. I've always thought he could, if given the right material. Which? This was. And yes, lovely boys.

River was an amazing actor and his death was a huge loss. Acting talent does seem to run in the family, though, because Joaquin (sp?) is equally good, if not better. I think, actually, that he is better. He was great in "To Die For" and was robbed - robbed I tell ya - when he didn't win the Oscar for "Gladiator". God, what a staggering performance that was. I simply cannot wait to see him in "Walk the Line". I think I'll go all fangirly for him. What a talent. What an astonishing talent.
