oh indeed, mythology is one of my specialties and i adore the oral traditions passed from generation to generation. in my doula-ing i was trained to support the labouring woman no matter what her beliefs.
i think, though, that when a parent cannot tell the difference between superstition and "clear and present danger" (and if the medical profession, moreover, is prepared to support that lack of distinction) there are significant problems afoot. i realize, though, how subjective i'm being in terms of what *I* believe to be clear and present danger as opposed to what others believe to be clear and present danger...
