Both times I've been there the focus was mostly on Sydney and surrounding areas. We did get out to the Bell museum and the Miners' Museum (they were both closed and they opened up for us, because Capers are really friendly like that). The west coast is someplace I've been looking at (online) more and more. Margaree looks like a place I could get used to very, very easily.

I'm actually thinking of staying here. It looks comfy and cheap. It sure beats the Jacques Cartier Motel for not-boringness. And thin walls. Seriously, we heard way too much from the couple having sex in the next room. I spent half the night hoping the kids wouldn't wake up and force me to explain stuff.

That's a great area - actually in the park!

You might check out the Ceilidh Trail and Inverness - we drove up the east side of the main island from Halifax and then up the west side of Cape Breton and caught one of the last days of the Celtic Colours festival just outside of Inverness, and it was great. World-class music, and while there were tourists, they were informed tourists, so it wasn't obnoxious.

My original plan was to go to Celtic Colours. They changed pretty quickly when I found out that lovely DIL [livejournal.com profile] tapped_trish is due to have her baby just a few days after the end of the festival. I've been trying to get to CC for ten years, now, but somehow being around for the baby's a tad more important. *g* I'll go next year, though.

Dude. You don't need to sell me on Cape Breton, or the music. I'll actually be starting to learn the fiddle come September. I'm halfway thinking about doing the three-week fiddle program here next year. An adventure is in order, so yeah. :)

Is there a place where I can sign up? I'm all about the pimpage.
