Has anyone heard anything else about this?

It's the first I've heard of it. Should I stop downloading stuff? Is this just posturing by TPTB? *considers*

I had read a similar article, a few days ago. Can't remember how I found it, though. That one indicated they had actually brought charges or suits against certain individuals (I think in VA), who were fined thousands of dollars. I don't recall the article mentioning how they got the names, though. Verizon's my DSL provider, so it certainly makes me concerned.

I'm not a huge downloader, compared to the people they are currently targeting (I would think, anyway), but it will certainly curb my downloading activity, for a while anyway. I also probably won't share files now, either, because the last article I read indicated that if you aren't sharing on the network, you are less likely to be one of the ones who are targeted initially, in the event this becomes a major witch hunt.

What a pain in the ass.

Here (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20030625/tc_nm/tech_music_dc_14) is the article I read. I also found 3 more articles from subsequent days, and posted them here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/artemis_folly/18270.html?mode=reply") in my journal.

Bleh. I guess I'll turn off sharing, then. If they're trying to get that much of a fine from me, they're trying to get blood out of a stone. Still, eh.

Bummer.

I saw it on the news last week (or two weeks ago?) and haven't downloaded illegally since. It's killing me. *dies of new music deprivation*
