Hmm. This could be true, although I'm not sure if it's the way other countries celebrate it, and I always thought Veterans Day was pretty much the same holiday as Armistice/Remembrance Day is in England and Canada and a few other countries, which is more to honour the dead than for the living. I could be entirely wrong, given that I am neither British, Canadian, nor a citizen of any of those other countries. :)
We in New England seem to celebrate Memorial Day as a remembrance of ALL our dead--putting flowers on deceased relatives' graves, whether they were veterans or not.
