the only poppy I can find is growing in my front yard.
So today is Memorial Day here in Amerikay. I'm not going to make a big post about it, because I already did that back in November (The US has two holidays for pretty much the same reason. I've never been able to completely wrap my head around that).

We in New England seem to celebrate Memorial Day as a remembrance of ALL our dead--putting flowers on deceased relatives' graves, whether they were veterans or not.

The only thing I can think of is that Memorial Day must have started back when Veterans Day was still Armistice Day and at the time specifically celebrated the end of WWI. I should Google this, because I'd like to know the history.
