I really wish I could go to this ceremony.

It's hard to believe that something like this could have happened as recently as 1991. I mean, Native American graveyards have laws protecting and preserving them. Why isn't the same respect given to African-American graveyards? Is putting up yet another building more important than people's ancestral heritage? To the city of New York in 1991, it obviously was. Or maybe it was the people who first bulldozed the graveyard in the first place. Or maybe it was the people who let them do it.

Gah. I blame Christopher Columbus, when it all comes down to it.

I heard on the radio that the majority of these graves were those of children. Christ. It's no wonder that some of the descendants of the African slaves are demanding reparation. I think I would, too.
