Dear gods, yes. I'm pretty sure I saw Moulin Rouge at least ten times. In the theatre. I think the final count was eleven. There is no upper limit. Why should there ever be an upper limit?

And I go through phases and re-fall in love with something for a while. Right now I'm revelling in the wonder that is this beautiful thing. This time I'm in love with the cinematography.

I mean, can you blame me? Behold my current desktop wallpaper:




I wonder if there's any way I could recreate that shot with my ordinary little Canon Powershot. Maybe the boat tours go under those bridges. Definitely checking it out next year time.

Oh, and this is an interesting read, even if you've never seen H2O. Even if you never plan to see it. Here's an exerpt:

You remind me that although I have seen the sequel, I still haven't managed to get a hold of this. Must try Amazon again.... And the earlier link you posted bringing out the Shakespearean elements of H2O sounded fascinating. I didn't read it, because I don't want to spoil what's not already spoiled, but I have it bookmarked for later...

I have noticed some films/books are so great, I never get bored to re-watch/read them,on the other hand some are so great, I can't stand to re-watch/read them (maybe they belong to a certain mood or time...)

If you're a fan of good cinematography, I highly rec H20. Especially if you also like political intrigue and really neogothic architecture.

Interesting trivia: H20 was directed by Charles Binamé. I think at the time it was his first film in English. He's also the director of this season of Durham County (which is also amazing and has really good cinematography).

I take this one out at least a couple of times a year; It's got a complex plot, so I get more out of it each time.

I can't imagine NOT rewatching or rereading something I love. It's part of why I have over half a dozen bookcases, and why my DVD collections keeps outgrowing its shelves. My CD collection has done the same thing, actually.

I totally agree that there's no such thing as an upper limit.

Have you suggested it to aka? I honestly don't remember how far out the rewatch is planned, just know that dS is done by Christmas, with HCL after that.

h20_wtf has a bunch of stuff about The Trojan Horse, as well, which was really good, but not the brilliant geniusness of the original (and wasn't filmed in Ottawa, which was part of what made the first film so pretty). On the upside, it does feature a scene where Paul is wearing this amazing white shirt. Also Kenneth Welsh with a ponytail.


I haven't been able to attend any of the dS stuff, on account of school and work. :/ I'll definitely suggest a rewatch ASAP.

*butting in* The general idea of the rewatch is to do as much of the C6D as we can. That said, I think we're aiming to switch between the million and one projects that Paul, Callum, Hugh et al have.

For example, S&A (Paul) is coming up in about three weeks. After that it'll be either Callum, Hugh, Molly or Don's turn and so forth.

That said, because H2O and The Trojan Horse are short (comparatively speaking), their chances of coming up in the rewatch are slightly higher (imho) than something like BSG which will go on for about 3 or so months.

Also, I don't believe there's an upper limit for a movie one likes. :)
