Here's a list of songs that ClearChannel (aka the devil's spawn) banned immediately post-9/11.

Some of these make NO sense, and the rest don't make much. *rolls eyes*

Can you say knee-jerk? Gods.

I'm just going by the fact that John McCutcheon wrote a song about it, and that I'd seen it in the paper right after 9/11. It might not have been an official list, but the mentality behind it is still scary. *shudder*

They'll jump at the chance to ban Imagine. I had to sing it in chorus in seventh grade, and they changed the words a bit so that we wouldn't be singing about how good communism and atheism are. And I lived in a liberal town. *shakes head*

Dude, "Ruby Tuesday" sooooo obviously refers to the events of Tuesday September 11th 2001!

Hmm... I jest, but "When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you...
" does kinda sum up the Bin Laden situation and the US' inability to find him.

Whether or not they were actually banned, I mean, come on..."Bridge Over Troubled Water"???? "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"???? Two of the most comforting songs EVER IMHO. Weirdness.

Yes. And "come on, people, now, smile on your brother. Everybody get together, try to love one another right now.

Subversive and disquieting, dontya think? Er. Or not.

And "Wipeout?" An instrumental about surfing.

*rolls eyes* Whether Clear Channel actually banned these, or not, the mere fact that they were suggested makes me go, huh?

Y'know, you have to wonder about a song with lyrics like, "No need for greed or hunger; a brotherhood of man."

That John Lennon dude must have been a subversive. Oh, wait, he was. He tried to help bring about the dreaded World Peace.
