There's a reason we get more federal spending down here... but that goes back to tariffs in the early 1800s, and I doubt that most people actually want to hear the real reasons. Ah, well.

And you should read that book I told you I just finished - Born Fighting.

Because this is all so interconnected, but people just don't get that. That book and Aja's post and the fact that we have more federal spending and which states are blue and which are red - it can't be untangled.

Eh. The South also has Highway 41 - as in "I was born in the back of a Greyhound bus, travelin' down Highway 41." So there. ;)

There's all this vitriol being flung Southward ever since the Election. Like the entire population of the Southern states were collectively responsible for Kerry losing. *headdesk* wtf? Some of those states got pretty high numbers for Kerry, y0, despite the fact that he practically never campaigned there.
