Two entries today, because I missed yesterday on account of RL.

Day 5: Your favourite female singer.

This one was hard. "But I have so many favourite female singers," said I. "There's Sinéad, there's Melissa, there's k.d., how could I choose just one?" But I'm trying to be a good meme-taker and not be all "this meme ain't the boss o' me". I could have gone with the nostalgic angle, or the voice angle, or the lyric angle, but I figured those were too limiting. So I picked the singer I could listen to no matter what mood I'm in, of whose body of work I know and love the most (and who really fits well into all those other categories in any case).

So, anyway, I picked Cheryl, because in the end, how could I not? This is the song that introduced me to her, and it was love at first listen:

Day 6: Your favourite band. I thought this would be hard, but it ended up a complete no-brainer:

I continue to insist that the Beatles were not only the first emo band but the prototype for every emo band to follow. I should really do a poll, because plenty of people don't agree with me.

[livejournal.com profile] pegkerr is Asking for help for a friend, a widow in her late sixties who is facing homelessness.

Ellen is trying to increase her small income by selling handmade jewellery. Her work is very lovely. So how about do a little shopping and help her out? It's almost the holiday season after all. I've already bought this gorgeous thing, and there is plenty more pretty where that came from!

So, come on, help make the world a little brighter, and at the same time score some really gorgeous wearable art. Go to Peg's post for more stuff you can do to help.
