Isn't it a little ironic that a program called The Fairy Tale Belongs to the Poor costs a thousand dollars to attend ($1600 if you want room and board there)?

I mean, goodness. This program sounds incredible for aspiring writers (which I sometimes actually think I am) even without people like Neil and Susan Cooper, but come on, a thousand dollars? I could get the week off, I have a lot of vacation time, but. I canna afford it, Captain. I sent for a brochure anyway.

In other, (and cheaper) news, it seems my Midsummer and early Autumn book list is coming along. I only have room for one book between this book and this one *tries to control Squee O'JoyTM*

This has been my big issue with Clarion writers workshop. Time off work (money lost, for lo my name is Contractor) + more money to attend = big hit in the bankroll. I hear it's a fabulous workshop, and many of its graduates have gone on to be published.

Well, that and I don't really write science-fiction. Which has always seemed odd to me, considering that's the bulk of what I read. I find the genre intimidating to write, however. I don't write children's fiction because I'm not passionate about it, despite my deep and abiding love for Harry Potter.

I don't write nearly enough. Something like this would be such a catalyst. *sigh*

I don't know if I want to write stuff for kids (I think not, at least not now), but fairy tales are reference for a lot of fantasy stories, and learning from these guys? So much knowledge/experience/talent.

I did write for the brochure. Maybe I'll win the lottery. :/
