Something that puzzles me:

I have a question for those of you who delete your LJ because you have: A. a paper to finish, B. a house that needs cleaning, C. stuff for work that needs to be done, or D. something like that which involves willpower to do instead of doing LJ things: Why not just turn the computer off? Or disconnect your modem, if what you're doing needs to be typed? It seems to me that undeleting doesn't take much more time than rebooting or reconnecting to the internet. I think A. might be because you need the internet to research stuff, but that's about the only reason I can think of.

I'm not flaming at ALL. I'm just curious. And I'm not wondering about those of you who have to delete because of anonymity issues. That I understand (although almost everyone I know well at least is aware I have a LJ).

I think it's an emotional energy issue; if you really need to get something done that involves a computer, and you really don't have the time to get yourself distracted by LJ (I very often sit down to write a paper and end up browsing LJ for an hour first), you could either steel yourself and tell yourself not to check the Flist, or you could delete it for the day. When you delete your journal for the day like that, you accept that you are causing a great number of people emotional strain, but if you really need the concentration that you'd get by not needing to remind yourself every thirty seconds not to check the Flist again, it might be worth it to do that sometimes. Personally, I will not delete my journal unless I have a very, very great reason to, because doing so would never cause me enough peace of mind to justify it to my entire friends-of list; however, that may be some of the reasoning.

Btw, where did you get the live acoustic version?? That must be fabulous!
