It's odd, because although I love the trappings of death...cemeteries, hearses, Victorian funerals, etc, I really have a paranoia when it comes to my own death.

But. If this is the case, why do I find this song so comforting?

Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper

Spooky.

Great song, though.

I. LOVE. THIS. SONG. I think it's #3 on my Frequently-Played Playlist on iTunes -- you know, the one that automatically keeps track of the songs you listen to most often? I'm not even a fan of Blue Oyster Cult in general. But this song kicks 40 kinds of ass.

That is an awesome song! And I'm fascinated by cemeteries - especially the artwork on headstones - too.

Absolutely adore that song. *nods* I find it comforting too, in a very odd sort of way.

Yay, BOC.

The word that always comes to mind about this song is "cathartic."

It's someone telling you that you don't have to fear it. Not that someone just saying it will alleviate the fear permanantly, but it gives a momentary respite. I don't fear death. I fear the means by which I will be delivered to it but my belief system cushions me from fearing what follows.

I love the song too. Actually, in the first novel I started to write (and will finish someday, dammit), this song is a major inspiration and is actually written into the story.

PS. Did you get any writing done. I got very very little, other than to brush up the last scene I wrote. Up to page 123. Hubby said he thought my chapters too long, thought the prologue too long, thought the profession I picked for one of my characters wrong, and and pointed out a very hysterical typo ("spayed" should be "spyed". Rolled on the floor over that one). Will probably change up the chapters because people do usually like short chapters, but the prologue stays and Bryn's profession stays though I"ll most likely add some embelishment as to why he's perfect for the position.

No, I have not gotten any writing done, and I need to. The words are THERE, I just need to put them where they go.

I love, love cemeteries. They charm me and somehow make me feel alive. I'm an odd bird, yes, yes.

Of course it also reminds me of being a teenager, which is a wonderful thing.
