Cindy Sheehan arrested during antiwar protest--By Jennifer C. Kerr, AP writer.

Tell, me, does this sentiment sound familiar to my fellow Boomers?

"I would like to say to Cindy Sheehan and her supporters don't be a group of unthinking lemmings. It's not pretty," said Mitzy Kenny of Ridgeley, W.Va., whose husband died in Iraq last year. The anti-war demonstrations "can affect the war in a really negative way. It gives the enemy hope."

And this opening line: "Cindy Sheehan, the California woman who has used her son's death in
Iraq to spur the anti-war movement..."
Geez, Ms.K. Inflammatory much?

In other news, I found this, and there was much rejoicing:

Tori Amos - Mad World (live)

It is definitely time to see Donnie Darko again.

And ohhh, Tori. *sigh*

No! She can't be arrested. She's supposed to come to campus tomorrow night to speak!

Hopefully she'll be released on bail or something. :/

A friend of mine went to the protest today, too, and he was joking about how if we didn't hear from him in a couple of days, then we should start checking the prisons. I hope he didn't go through with that.

I would have been there myself, with [livejournal.com profile] mr_t00by, but I had to work.

I was going to ask you if you went. I would have if it weren't for Elise and Sophie. I'm not bringing kids that little to face off with an administration not known for it's ability to discern what 'real threats' are. :/

"They" were saying on the radio today how many people were there, from wildly different backgrounds. I would have been there, too, if it were physically and economically possible. It got me to thinking about how many would have been there if it had been physically and economically possible for all those who wanted to be there, to be there.

How can the life of such a [wo]man
Be in the palm of some fool's hand?
To see [her] obviously framed
Couldn't help but make [one] feel ashamed to live in a land
Where justice is a game.

I think Dylan will always be relevant.

Bob Dylan - Masters of War. Lyrics here.

I don't like the last verse, but I understand the sentiment and the anger.

Iraq is the new Vietnam. It really is.
