In August 1994, Parks was attacked in her home by a young man who wanted money from her. Of the event, she writes, "I pray for this young man and the conditions in our country that have made him this way. Despite the violence and crime in our society, we should not let fear overwhelm us. We must remain strong."

There needs to be someone with this sentiment in the White House. In all of world government, really.
And hmm. There have been biopics of Malcolm X, Reuben Carter, Ray Charles, Bobby Darrin, Tina Turner, etc., and now one coming about Johnny Cash--all interesting, talented, sometimes great, people. I wonder, though--has there been a biopic about Rosa? Or Helen (and no, I don't mean The Miracle Worker)? It's an interesting idea.

Shirley Kaigler, Parks’ lawyer, said she died while taking a nap early on Monday evening surrounded by a small group of friends and family members.
“She just fell asleep and didn’t wake up,” Kaigler said.
That's exactly how I want to go.
