me, I'm trying just to get to second base, and I'd steal it if she only gave the sign

Meme where there's the possibility of giving long wordy answers. How can I resist? By way of [livejournal.com profile] ceilidh, who has one of my favourite usernames. :D

Comment with the name/title of a fandom I'm aware of (if I don't know it, I'll tell you, unless you want me to make something up, which I highly doubt, although it would be fun to try. *g*), no matter how obvious you think the answers will be, and I'll reply to you with the character I love best and why, and maybe who I ship them with. Also, you're free to reply in subthreads and ask me why I ship or don't ship something. In fact I encourage it. *g*)

Also, GO TIGERS! Because the Cards beat my Mets, and because I love underdogs, and especially because I adore my [livejournal.com profile] peacey so much. And the Tigers deserve it. They've worked so hard the past, oh, couple of years, really, to earn the chance for the ring.

And GIP!.

Yes, that's mine, and I love it a lot. I get at least one compliment a day on it. People always are asking what it means, which of course is my chance to do some serious pimping in the guise of information. If it weren't for [livejournal.com profile] moonlight69, I'd still be sitting here with a bare wrist. *loves*

I think Ray V. is straight. I also think he had more than a little crush on Benny. Okay, it's a paradox, but it's my paradox and I'm sticking to it. He wouldn't even realise he had a crush at all, anyway. Mostly because he's straight. *g* Yep, circular logic, or something.

Why do people think that Ray V. is any more straight than Ray K.?? It just doesn't make sense to me. If you're going to suspend canon enough to make Ray K. gay, than you should be fair and suspend canon enough to make Ray V. gay as well - because, guess what! It was never the intention of the writers to make either Ray or Fraser gay on the show!

F/K shippers are ridiculous. They're so stuck in their F/K-colored glasses that they can't accept that their way of thinking isn't what all dS fans believe, and it's definitely not what the original creators of the show intended. They're also so eager to push the F/K agenda that they happily pair poor Ray V. with Stella, even though, like you, they may hate Stella because Fraser doesn't like her, and if Fraser doesn't like her, Ray V. being with her would be an end to the Fraser-Ray V. friendship. :-( But F/K shippers don't give shit about that - they don't care that Fraser is no longer friends with Ray V. as long as they have their precious (ugh!) F/K.

Um, yes they did. At least in Ray K's case.

Paul Gross, on the addition of Ray Kowalski, said this:

"I tell you, slash fiction is going to go crazy when they see the new guy. He is really good-looking and sexy, the dangerous side of Fraser. It will be totally homoerotic."

F/K shippers are ridiculous. They're so stuck in their F/K-colored glasses that they can't accept that their way of thinking isn't what all dS fans believe, and it's definitely not what the original creators of the show intended.

I don't actually care if it's what all dS fans believe. These are fictional characters, and therefore won't be harmed or offended by anything we think about them. My question is, why is your opinion about said fictional characters strong enough that insulting me is okay for you? Fandom is supposed to be fun, after all.

They're also so eager to push the F/K agenda that they happily pair poor Ray V. with Stella, even though, like you, they may hate Stella because Fraser doesn't like her, and if Fraser doesn't like her, Ray V. being with her would be an end to the Fraser-Ray V. friendship.

I've paired Ray V. with Stella. I just write her as more likable than canon does. I have also written F/V. (because I can DO THAT IF I WANT, THEY DON'T CARE BECAUSE THEY ARE *FICTIONAL CHARACTERS*).

But F/K shippers don't give shit about that - they don't care that Fraser is no longer friends with Ray V. as long as they have their precious (ugh!) F/K.

I have never, not even once, said that Fraser is no longer friends with Ray V. Of course he is, Fraser's friendships tend to be lasting. And I adore Ray V, btw.

So there you have it. Although I really wonder why you feel it's necessary to be insulting in response to a comment that itself was a comment of a six-year-old post--a comment that is doing nothing but giving my personal opinion. The Ray Wars are over, my friend, and have been since way before I wrote this post.

That quote from Paul Gross doesn't say anything about Ray Kowalski being gay. That's a false interpretation. And as for Paul saying the show would be "homoerotic" in the episodes with Kowalski -I think Paul was just laughing at slashers and shippers and having a little joke because they were so sure that Due South would be gay. :-)

Really - there's nothing to indicate the show became more or less gay in the last two seasons than in the first two, including the characters. It's just interpretation, and I think many slashers see scenes that non-slashers don't because they've conditioned themselves to see the slash.

I'm not going to argue with you about interpretation. I do not live inside of Paul Gross' head, so I take what he said at face value and interpret it as I see it. Apparently you see it differently--that's why there are 64 crayons in the box of Crayolas.

And? You never did answer my question about why you care so much about people who do not exist. I have my fandom and my favourites and I love them as characters, but if someone wants to write Ray V./Dead!Bob or something equally ridiculous-sounding, I could really care less.

Because, as I've said, they are NOT REAL. If I don't like a pairing/story line/subject matter, I don't read it, period. If someone wants to write it, though, they can go for it. A writer can turn them all into psychotic mutant zombies, for all I care. That's what the back button's for.

Your comment about RayV/Dead!Bob makes me think you're not sincerely about adoring RayV. I think a lot of F/K shippers have that problem - they won't admit it, but they care shit about RayV.

Apparently you're not understanding my words. I care about Ray V. as much as I care about any of my favourite characters, but I care about them as characters, I don't think they're real. Ray V. is one of my very favourite dS characters. But I don't care what people do with them when they write because it's their choice.

Someone can write Fraser/Frannie/Ray K./Welsh's mutant zombie ghost and I DO NOT CARE, because I don't have to read that story if I don't want to and also because--as I have already repeated multiple times, now--THEY ARE NOT REAL PEOPLE. I repeat: NOT REAL PEOPLE. as in MADE UP, NOT REAL, NEVER ACTUALLY DREW BREATH KIND OF FICTIONAL. See?
