Maybe I should rethink that house in Cape Breton. Or at least pray for the US to put people who are LESS STUPID in power. Should be easy, because there can't be many who are MORE stupid left.

Date: 2006-10-26 04:14 pm (UTC)The origin, though, is that when Bob Corker was mayor of Chattanooga, he authored a plan to turn two one-way streets into two-way streets. There was no real need for this, and I think it's actually made traffic congestion worse, plus the expense of doing so... BUT the people that owned land alongside these two streets (which run through the heart of one of the poorest, least integrated neighborhoods in Chattanooga) made an absolute killing. Bob Corker was one of those people.
So... Bob Corker. He goes both ways.

Date: 2006-10-26 04:44 pm (UTC)I rillyrillyrillyRILLY hate the RNC. Do you suppose they ever had brains, or did they just leave them at home sometime back in 2000? Not all Republicans are idiots. Just the ones who are currently in positions of authority (okay, except John McCain).

Date: 2006-10-26 05:52 pm (UTC)Also? Go take a look at this:
Canadian World Domination.
A warning, though: it's very easy to follow link after link and get completely sucked in. You'll look up and see that you've spent hours drowning in virtual Canadiana. Which is not a bad thing, mind you (says the dork who is actually in the process of reading this ).

Date: 2006-10-26 08:31 pm (UTC)Oh, I dunno, I'm pretty Irelandgeeky. You should see my bookshelves. I have this, this, this, this, this, and this, among a bunch of others.
The Canada section is much smaller, actually, even though I've been a practicing Canadaphile for ten years. I make up for it by the vast amount of Canadian music I own. And I need to read this book, because I always rant about how everyone knows so much about the US government but we don't know doodles about anyone else. I figured I'd better walk the walk, and all. Also because I'm a Canadageek. And a general dork *g*
