Happy Thanksgiving, America!

I'm going to [livejournal.com profile] croosa's and [livejournal.com profile] tapped_trish's house for the day. I'm waiting for the rain to stop because I hate driving in it,so while I do, here's a meme!

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] slidellra:

a) Four jobs I have had in my life:

Scooper at The Ice Cream Place, Block Island
Waitstaff at Italian Village
Medical records clerk (temporary) at Newport Hospital
Staff nurse at Butler Hospital, where I've been for the past three years.

b) Four movies I could/would watch over and over:

The Quiet Man 1952, John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara. I can't stand John Wayne, but I love him in this. I wish he'd made more movies like this. And it's filmed in Ireland. The colour is spectacular, and Maureen O'Hara is beautiful.

Velvet Goldmine. This movie was made for me, I know it. Music, Oscar Wilde, pretty, pretty people, and Ewan McGregor (my fake!husband, looking very pretty himself, and a lot like Kurt Cobain). Also gorgeous. Alas, I can't find a trailer. Hmm.

Wilby Wonderful. If you never do anything again on my rec, see this film. Especially if you're in a bad mood, because you'll be cheered up exponentially. I might just like this one better than Velvet Goldmine, and that's saying a lot. Trailer is here. I also really, really would like to find this poster.

Little Voice Ewan McGregor, Jane Horrocks, 1998. Trailer is here. This is another one to watch when you're feeling down. Lovely dark comedy. Ewan is sweet and lovely and I haven't seen it in years. Must remedy that. :)

Bonus rec: Men With Brooms. I don't put it in the same group as the others, but almost, almost. I mean, really, what's not to love? It's funny, it's romantic, it's got the Tragically Hip as a Curling Team, and Paul Gross, looking prettier than ever, wears black. A lot. Trailer is here.

c) Three places I have lived:
Wilmington, MA, USA
Block Island, RI, USA
Narragansett, RI, USA

d) Five TV shows I love to watch :

Slings & Arrows. Okay, y'know what I said about if you only go with one of my recs? Make that two. You will not be sorry, I promise. This one's still on television, somewhere, but go with the DVDs. Or email me and I'll hook you up. :)

Babylon 5. Mythos, drama, conflict, and the coolest bad guys ever.

due South. Quirky, smart, with tongue-in-cheek humour and fleshed-out characters (even the minor characters have backstories, including the dog.)

Jeopardy!. I want to be on this show someday. No, really.

The X-Files. Well, through season six, anyway.

e) Eight places I have been on vacation:

Florence, Italy, aeons ago
Cape Breton, NS
Atlanta, GA, or thereabouts, to see my [livejournal.com profile] patchfire
Eugene, OR, a couple of times, latest to visit [livejournal.com profile] moonlight69 and [livejournal.com profile] ashkitty
Kissimme, FL. I own half of a timeshare there, not that I ever use it anymore.
Washington, DC.
Various places in Egypt, on the same trip as Italy.
Salem, MA
Montreal, Quebec, for one day.

f) Four web sites I visit daily (okay, the meme said one, but y'know.):
Amazon.com, to surf the books.

cnn.com, to get the news. Also NPR, but I won't mention it because then it would be five websites. Erm.

cbc.ca, because I don't want to be one of those ignorant Americans who thinks the capital of Canada is Montreal. And because Canadians often have a better perspective on the US than the US does. And because I'm a giant giant dork.

Cap it!. You really have to ask?

Not counting livejournal, o'course. *g*

g) Three of my favourite foods:
Mashed potatoes
Tuna Sashimi
Nime Chow

h) One place I would rather be right now:

[livejournal.com profile] tapped_trish's house. I'm leaving now. :)

Heh, I just put up a link to the Massacree, in case anyone on my FList didn't have a digital copy.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

You can get anything you want ---- excepting Alice.

That brings back some fond memories of being a teenager. My friends all loved that song.
