And, wheee!

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?

I don't make them.

Not this year.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Nope.

A housekeeper to come in once a week and clean.

Moving house.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Non-LJ friend Sandra gave me a pretty dark-pink dress.

My kids, who were their usual splendorific selves.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Same as the last five years, G. Dubya Bush.

Rent, bills, but I did get to take a couple of trips, one to visit [livejournal.com profile] patchfire and one to visit [livejournal.com profile] moonlight69.

The wedding! Also that I'm finally, finally going to Celtic Colours after like ten years of wibbling about it.

Most likely all of The Captain and the Kid.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

About the same, I guess.
b) fatter or skinner? I lost somewhere around 20 lbs last year, so skinnier, I guess.
c) richer or poorer? Mostly the same.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Travelling. Writing. Winning the lottery.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Working.

20. How do you plan to did you spend Christmas?

On Block Island at my mother's house.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006?

I don't think I learned one. Is that pathetic or good?

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

And the bridge it shines, oh, cold hard iron,
saying "Come and risk it all or die trying"

And every one of us has to face that day:
do you cross the bridge or do you fade away?
and every one of us that ever came to play
has to cross the bridge or fade away.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] missapocalyptic? [livejournal.com profile] malnpudl?

I rest my case.

Oh, and,

Dear Rufus Wainwright,

Please make an album of Elton covers? Really, it'd be great, and it'd make me endlessly happy.

Love, love, love,

Me.

P.S. How are you so pretty?

Rufus Wainwright - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

And another cover:

Indigo Girls - American Tune (live). The modern day national anthem, so it is.

"Oh, but it's all right
It's all right
We've lived so well, so long
Still when I
think of the road we're travelling on
I wonder what's gone wrong;
I can't help it I wonder
what's gone wrong"

*sigh*

I'll be doing the requisite 'what I got for Christmas' post soonish, along with some picspam meme stuff. I know y'all are on the edges of your seats in anticipation.

Hee, I think we have similar "personal styles".

And, I just rescued an email you sent me (about website stuff) from the spam folder. I'm not ignoring you, really! I shall reply anon.

I love long dresses with long sleeves and leggings and Birkenstocks and those lace-up ankleboots. The Birks are the only things in that list that don't come from thrift stores.

Hee, thanks for the Dorian Gray link...it really does explain a few things. How come I've never heard of that before?! He really should do more stuff like that - or more of anything really.

When you mentioned Rufus Wainwright, I immediately thought "That's Loudon Wainwright's kid right?". Ouch, my age.

I've never heard of it, either. The performance, I mean, not the story. *g* Random Googling is my friend, apparently.

Rufus is insanely talented, and comes from talented stock.

His mother is Kate McGarrigle. Good genes. *g*

It's not my meme, I got it from someone else, which I guess is the nature of the meme. :)

It looks like I'm going. I'm still looking for someone to come with me, but since not having company has been my silly reason to put it off for too many years, I'm going to go alone if I have to.

*narrows eyes* You've always wanted to see the east coast, haven't yoooou? *waves watch in front of your face* You LOVE fiddle tunes and travelling with total geeks who drag you to ceilidhs . *mutters hypnotically*

*shakes head* I just had the weirdest dream!

I'd love to, but you know. Real life and stuff. Prolly about $700 for the flight, too. Stupid gigantic country.

Damn the silly Transporter for not being real. What good was Star Trek for, anyway? That pesky William Shatner had to know how big his own fecking country was, after all. :/

The cheapest flight I can get is $641USD round-trip. That's $744 Canadian. How come it costs as much to fly from RI to Sydney as it does to fly all the way across Canada? I'm going anyway, but ouch. *puts money away fast*

Right now Vancouver to Sydney is $1,349.46CAD. I think the prices go down as the time gets closer, though. Either way, it's a lot.

And just watch 'misunderestimated' become a word like 'normalcy' (which was also misspoke by a US President [Harding, says Google]).
