Awesome. Simply awesome. I have never heard that verse either.
It is funny to hear the band without Davey on guitar but of course that's how it used to be.
And now Elton is going to turn 60. Holy Moses where did the time go?

When he did Madman he was what, 24? I have a kid who's 24. The mind boggles.

I found that you get gems like these when you search YouTube under "Bernie Taupin". There are fewer repeats of Princess Di's funeral that way (nothing against Di or the song, it's just soooo overplayed, y'know?). I'm still looking for a decent-sounding video of just Elton singing "Blues Never Fade Away". There's one on YouTube, but the sound quality is terrible.

Oh, and thanks a lot, buddy. Now I've got not one but TWO songs from Elton John running through my head. Not that it's a bad thing, but still. :)

Nice songs. I especially like the Holiday Inn one. :) I've never heard it before, let alone recognizing that there's an extra verse. Thanks for sharing.

Now might I share with you that my friend Andrew is, probably within the next ten - twenty minutes going to be out of Iraqi air space and on his way home. *throws confetti, passes out from relief*

The extra verse is the last one, which I'm guessing was left off of the album (Madman Across the Water, if you're interested *g*) because of the extreme dissing of Holiday Inn. Maybe they were afraid A. of a lawsuit or B. that they wouldn't be allowed to stay there anymore. It really turns the song into something different, and I wonder how many other verses might have been left out.

Oh, here, listen for yourself:

Elton John - Madman Across the Water.

It's everything and nothing you'd expect an Elton John album to be. *loves* Buy it if you like it. :)

Give Andrew my congratulations when you talk to him, yay! *cheers*

Hmmmm. I wonder if Elton will play 60 Years On during his birthday concert in New York. Great tune although it would help to have a backing orchestra when playing it...

He might, I think it's one of those old ones he still plays, and I'm sure he won't miss the irony for a second. :)

Paul Buckmaster? Is the shizznit, yessir.

Dude. He's the cello-playin' cat's pyjamas. He's the berries, he's hitting on all sixes, he's steppin' out, gonna boogie tonight.

Which obviously means he knows where his towel is.
