US schools in the seventies weren't big on the geography of America, let alone Canada (my bet is they still aren't. Ever see Rick Mercer's Talking to Americans? NOT an exaggeration).
John Denver and Gordon Lightfoot taught me more about Canadian (and American) geography than I'd ever been taught in school. I was obsessed with John's Cold nights in Canada for years (along with basically anything about the mountains and the outdoors and the whole John Denver ouevre. Dude. I was a Waltons fan. Hey, I didn't get dorky overnight, y'know).

Well, yes, although my fake!boyfriend ain't no slouch, either. Also? I want to knit a sweater like that. I've been having knitting cravings recently.
