I'm ecstatic (and very unsurprised) that Slings & Arrows is getting yet another rave review.

But, um.

The main player in ``Slings'' is actor-turned-director Geoffrey Tennant (Paul Gross, a Canadian Tom Hanks best known in this country for the TV cult claassic ``Due South''), who became interim artistic director of the festival....

I really like Tom Hanks (Philadelphia is one of my very, very favourite movies in the world). Very talented guy, and from everything I've heard, a very nice guy. But he and Paul Gross are nothing alike (aside from being talented and, hopefully, nice). Their acting styles are completely different, they don't look anything alike, they don't sound anything alike. WTF? It's also a bad way to promote the series, because not everyone likes Tom Hanks. Not to mention that Tom Hanks as Geoffrey makes me wince a little, no matter how much I like him as an actor. To be fair, Paul Gross as Forrest Gump makes me wince a lot.

Original article is here, but I'm not sure if it's accessible without signing up.

Now that I have a good look at the visual aids, I see they almost have the same coloured eyes.

Just saying.

Hmm. Maybe almost. Paul's eyes have more grey in them, and are a little darker. I think. I have similar coloured eyes, and I never know whether they're blue-grey or grey-blue or something else, because they change with what I'm wearing. Not to mention I've never been compared to either of them.

Oh, are they grey-blue? I thought they were more amber. Tom Hanks' are definitely amber/brown.

Never mind!

- and you have the same colour eyes as my son. I'm always checking his to see which colour they are at that moment. Could be blue, could be grey, could be a greenish-grey. ;)

I actually looked through a bunch of Tom Hanks sites when you mentioned eye-colour. His eyes are grey-blue, from what I see, with some green (one poster in a forum says she met him, and his eyes are definitely green).

Paul's eyes are on the storm-grey side of blue. Believe me, I've done the research. *g* If you want to look for Paul's eye colour, don't go looking at screen caps from Getting Married in Buffalo Jump. I've never read it anywhere, but I'd bet large amounts of money that he's wearing brown contacts. Maybe it's because his character is Ukranian? Still, wtf?. I was even dorky and no-life-ish to make an an entire post about it. Although, really, what impressed me most about this film was the musical presence of k.d. lang and the Reclines, because I'm first and foremost a music dork.

All my kids have clear, blue eyes like their dad, except [livejournal.com profile] i_am_a_hannah, who has green like me mum. :) My own eyes are grey almost entirely.

But.. Tom Hanks' eyes look brown in your photo!

*confused*

Oh well, never mind AGAIN!

Hmm. The camera lies sometimes. Here's a couple pics of Tom where his eyes look blue (and a thousand apologies to him for the first one because it's a bloody awful one):

and one where they're greenish:

So, I think he's got a lot of blue going on there.

Paul's are definitely blue-grey:

And this is Paul's long-lost kid sister, or something:

Well, no, actually it's 12-ish year-old me, posted for no apparent reason, because you can't see my eye colour at all. Also? I was born in Massachusetts. I've never even been to Alberta. *g*

Oops, looks like I answered your deleted comment above. Anyway, love the mood ring. ;)

Although you may have been sitting in Massachusetts, your heart was clearly in Alberta. Look at that parka! You're ready for the prairie winds, with the fur-lined hood up, 'n' all. *g*

And the yummiest pic above is clearly the Men in Brooms shot. Freckles! *swoons*

You can bet every Saturday night I'd be headed for the legion hall. [/k.d. lang] It'd be a couple of years before I'd know about Alberta, though. US schools in the seventies weren't big on the geography of America, let alone Canada (my bet is they still aren't. Ever see Rick Mercer's Talking to Americans? NOT an exaggeration).

John Denver and Gordon Lightfoot taught me more about Canadian (and American) geography than I'd ever been taught in school. I was obsessed with John's Cold nights in Canada for years (along with basically anything about the mountains and the outdoors and the whole John Denver ouevre. Dude. I was a Waltons fan. Hey, I didn't get dorky overnight, y'know).

Well, yes, although my fake!boyfriend ain't no slouch, either. Also? I want to knit a sweater like that. I've been having knitting cravings recently.

Also, apparently I was happy that day. If I remember Mood Ring Deciphering, Blue meant "happy".

And? If t00by LJ would let me edit comments, I wouldn't have to delete to edit. *sigh*
