Does anyone have any info on Athabasca University? For reasons that are way, way too geekdorky to explore at this juncture, I'm thinking about enrolling in a degree program couple of their courses.

Like I don't have enough academic stuff I'm not doing already. But still, anyone?

Okay, work time. Then finish my [livejournal.com profile] axial_tilt story and submit it before I go to bed. Which might mean I go to bed late, quel surprise!

I'm doing my educational psych course via Athabasca . . . it's quite good. Lots of library-access and articles available online, etc.

I know I'm a totally random person but I spotted your post from ds_noticeboard's friends and thought I would respond. I've been taking courses from Athabasca for the last five years (mostly Poli Sci, Anthropology and Business courses) so if you have any questions I might be able to help. I often find that the marking is easier in Athabasca courses but the reading is heavier.

Distance learning is just about all I can do these days, since I don't have a lot of time to go to classes and most of the stuff I want to learn about isn't available in Rhode Island.

Oh, btw, is your username a Charles deLint reference? I love him. :)

My username is from Charles de Lint. I first fell in love with the covers of his books and then his stories.

I met Mr. de Lint on a bus in Salem, MA last year when he was speaking at The Witching Hour. He and his wife are both very nice, very bright people. It was very cool to meet him. I also love that he's a Celtic musician, which makes him cooler than most everyone. :) And his books are great, I'm a big fan of his.

I don't have direct info, but I took a couple of courses from BC's Open U, and it was excellent. Good luck!

I wish I could get paid for being a student. I'd have a ton of degrees by now.

I was a terrible student when I was a kid. "Topaz has lots of potential if only she'd apply herself..." the typical ADD stuff.

But now that I'm an adult, I absolutely love school, and everything about it. Funny, I was just talking to a co-worker at lunchtime about doing an online course at U. Victoria. Synchronicity?

I am not making this up: I was just looking at U Victoria's site just a few hours ago during my distance learning surf. Apparently the stars are in alignment.

I actually thought of doing the online thing from them first, but I couldn't figure out the process. Athabasca is more ADD-friendly in its links to info.

A friend of mine is getting her Masters in Nursing from Athabasca via the distance ed program. I can share your email with her and she can give you what info she has :)

Oh, very cool! I haven't looked at the Bachelor of Nursing stuff, which is probably what I SHOULD be looking at instead of looking at programs to do just because I want to. There are probably plenty of online nursing programs in my area, so if I were doing nursing things, I'd look around here.
