I've been to Ottawa only once (I took a group of 35 students there in November 1999) and I found it to be intolerably boring. But then again it was only for an afternoon.
Ottawa was my favourite place on the whole trip, even with the weird hostel. But then I love politics, history, and cool architecture. :)
If I ever make it to Rhode Island I'll do much the same and post pics and make observations and you'll see what I mean.
I've been meaning to do that; take a few days and go around RI taking pictures. The thing about RI is that even the locals sightsee because it really is one of the most beautiful places ever.
These days I'm all about small communities near large bodies of water. I wish I could live there, but what would I do for a living?

Here's a list to get you started. *g* Although moving to the states is so anti-trend these days.
Sorry if my fellow Torontonians were bastards to you while you were driving.
I'm actually used to it. RI drivers are pretty darn bad. Being lost and dealing with bad drivers is what made things ridiculous.
