when I leave behind the brain-dead politics of the state and all its economic woes and focus on her natural beauty and the lifestyle unique to those who live surrounded by the forests, farms, and especially the Lakes, I can't help but be thankful I grew up in such a place.

Yep, I feel the same way about New England (and sometimes I'm even okay with the politics. Sometimes).
