I lurk like crazy in this comm because I'm so very not qualified to comment. Maybe some of you guys who are might want to add to the mix and bring the IQ level of the comments up a little.

I try not to discuss politics on open fora on the internet. Too many asshats. /o\

Especially among those who make comments on CBC, Globe, National articles online. What gives with those gits?

I love how the people who are all about the responsible allocation of taxpayers' money and 'why don't we spend it on health care rather than this dreck nobody likes?' conveniently forget that film and television is an industry. If you fund it, you create jobs, and when you create jobs, you create taxpayers. It's not a gift, snowflakes, it's an investment, not only in our culture, but say . . . the continued employment of the City of Vancouver?

Obviously a lot of the canpolitik members like to hear themselves talk. It's probably something that's true for a lot of political comms. For example, check out ljdemocrats-- same asshattery, different government. Craniorectal inversion is obviously an international disorder (Not that I don't get political or ranty, but I do try to at least think about what I'm saying before I hit the 'send' key).

The nice thing is about both of these comms is that I get links to articles and information I didn't know about before, and every once in a while someone has a rare moment of insight. :)

Right, and isn't that the reason for tax credits in the first place? The bill is turning the whole thing into something else entirely, like one of the commenters said. Also, everyone's talking about 'what the taxpayers want'. Have these people interviewed every taxpayer in Canada? I sorta doubt it because um. I'm guessing Sarah Polley pays her taxes.
