And it came to pass that El Director should gaze upon the head of Thomas, and see it crying out in torment under the heavy weight of petroleum product forced upon it by the One Who Ruled Before. And he reached out his mighty hand, saying "fly, be free!" And it came to pass, and all was right with the world.

Hallelujah

Hee! I'm glad I'm not the only person who had this reaction. It took me a while to see the hair, I was too busy saying, erm, what's with the tall boy pretending to be afraid of girl dressed like Kim Richards in Escape to Witch Mountain pointing a stick at him? Didn't this kid fight Harry in the last movie?

Don't get me wrong, Draco can get bashed up with the best of them and usually does. In fact it happens so often in canon I wonder why one would have to make up more ways for him to get humiliated for the movie. I can't help but imagine Tom in this scene trying to make sense of it as an actor. Maybe he's imagining that if he moves a muscle Hermione will hex the hair gel back into his hair.

That said, bring on the jeans, baby. I want to see some well-tailored Pureblood fashion on that boy.

I couldn't see pass all the lovely soft hair to the fact that, yeah, he does seem to be a bit scared of Hermione. Still, he doesn't have his own wand raised (shut up, giggling fangirls. That wasn't a double entendre, because it's Hermione in the picture, not Harry), and he's probably pretty sure that Hermione's a whiz at Charms. And Draco's a scaredy-cat.

But he's very prideful about it! *mutters about character regression in Order* Mou. Taking a girl's slap is different than cringing as she curses you, and we've yet to see any indication that Draco fears any magical spell. Anything that indicates fear with Draco has been restricted to magical creatures or Voldemort. Somehow I can't see him like that, even with Hermione's talented wand work.

Yeah. No way. Bastards. Butchers of my baby. Character assassination!
Draco would never never cringe in front of Hermione. He's not *stupid.* He *knows* she wouldn't hurt him. And half of the boy's *problem* is his prickly touchy pride.
If Voldemort was in front of him, no problem with the cringing.
'Yes O Dark Lord! Your wish is my command! Ask me but to serve you and I will! Grovel, grovel, don't hurt me, oh god, when do I get out of here?'
But *Hermione*?
'Granger, your wand has your germs on it and that's icky. Try not to press me against a tree just because my new hairstyle overwhelms you with lust. Excitable, Mudbloods, aren't they?'
His somewhat confounded exit was the best victory Hermione could hope for, and it's canon.
THIS is ludicrous.

Yup. It's not that Draco isn't a scaredy-cat because he is. JKR loves writing his scaredy-cat scenes. Yet even she has never written this for good reason. It's a weird thing for a boy--even this boy--to be doing. Harry and Ron both pull wands on him without getting this reaction.

Ironically, it's even more odd in Movie Canon, since CoS seemed to imply this kid was pretty familiar with being on the wrong end of Daddy's wand. I'd love to see him cringing like that before the Pimp Stick, but this is kinda...what's he that afraid of?

JKR does have something for showing fear, doesn't she? Prolly has to do with Gryffindor bravery, those who have it and those who do not. She did mention that she valued it the highest of all the House traits...

But yes, and in front of his friends no less. Admittingly, movie!Draco and movie!C&G seem to not know each other to a startling degree ('didn't know you could read' indeed!) but all the same, he's such a prideful wee thing that I can't see him be willing to loose face like this. Not to mention that this is a girl who has him at wand point, and Granger at that.

Perhaps she's just cast something that is to be CGIed in later? One can have remarkably odd facial expressions mid hex.
