You know how people ask questions like, "Do you remember where you were blahblahblah years ago?" No?
Well, um. I definitely remember where I was nineteen years ago, because I'd just given birth for the fourth (and, alas, final) time. Despite my horrendous experience at Evil Baby Factory, the end result was, and is, pretty awesome. :D :D
Happy birthday,
mr_t00by, YAAAAY! *kermitflail*
I suck at sentiment, so I'll let someone more eloquent talk instead (and yeah, this is the same thing I quoted when Hannah turned nineteen, but I'm pretty sure
mr_t00by will appreciate it more, seeing as how he's actually read the text in question).
"At nineteen they can card you in the bars and tell you to get the fuck out, put your sorry act (and sorrier ass) back on the street, but they can't card you when you sit down to paint a picture, write a poem, or tell a story, by God, and if you reading this happen to be very young, don't let your elders and supposed betters tell you any different. Sure, you've never been to Paris. No, you never ran with the bulls at Pamplona. Yes, you're a pissant who had no hair in your armpits until three years ago--but so what? If you don't start out too big for your britches, how are you gonna fill 'em when you grow up? Let it rip regardless of what anybody tells you, that's my idea; sit down and smoke that baby."
--Stephen King, from the new intro to the Dark Tower series
And now for some pictures!

And this one was taken in San Juan during a cruise last January:

Date: 2008-07-15 03:35 pm (UTC)Nineteen is the year I met my husband... actually, we were both nineteen, his birthday was the month before we met! Hard to believe that was *gasp* fourteen years ago...
PS: what is it with the early 90s and overalls? Did we all get brainwashed into thinking they were cool or something? I had at least two pairs back then! And now? I wouldn't be caught DED in them. But at the time they were super cool. Weird.

Date: 2008-07-16 02:44 am (UTC)I was married when I was nineteen. I'm not now, which probably says something about me and rash decisions. And I've still got the kids (and they're all gorgeous *g*).

Date: 2008-07-16 03:31 am (UTC)Rems does have a few, I forgot... they're quite cute. So, OK. I guess it's just the overalls for adults that are not so cool...
I was a reading a book by Sarah Ban Breathnach recently who put it this way: married the wrong man, but had the right kids!
Hopefully that doesn't apply to me (although the kid part does!)
