When you see this, post a quote from Babylon 5 in your journal.

"The avalanche has started; it's too late for the pebbles to vote."

If that isn't the best quote ever for the current zeitgeist, I don't know what is (yes, I know "current zeitgeist" is an oxymoron, but I can't think of a better word, so there).

I agree. A spot-on metaphor. Avalanches are thundering, cataclysmic beasts that wreak havoc, destruction, and death, and those victims that somehow manage to survive are usually left broken shells of their former selves. Well done! ;)

B5 was my very favourite show of all time, ever for ages--such a well-written, well-acted, quality show. It took S&A to knock it out of first place(because S&A is an irresistible force--it's just better than any show ever made, hands down, y'know?).

I know, I know. I'd doubtless love it. It's just that when I do manage to watch TV lately, it's something Shakespeare (MacBeth with Ian McKellan and Judi Dench last night) or South Park.

I know you don't like SP, but the new one that aired this week was even more brilliant than usual. ONE DAY after the election, they aired an ep in which Obama was elected President. Their twist on it? That the whole election was a plot between Obama and McCain and their gang (including Michelle & Sara) to get one of them into the White House so they had access to a security tunnel that ran from under the Oval Office past the Smithsonian. Ala Ocean's Eleven, they'd burrow up into the museum, steal the Hope Diamond, fake their own deaths, and fly to Tahiti. OMG, as a bedraggled McCain supporter, it was exactly the mood-lightener I needed. Plus they lampooned the kool-aid mentality of Obama supporters en masse and the "the country's gonna burn" mentality of the McCain supporters en masse. You can watch the whole thing here (http://www.southparkstudios.com/news/3548). At around 20-ish minutes, I highly recommend you do.

I appreciate SP, I really do. I admire their edginess and barrier-smashing. I just find their stuff personally squickmaking for the most part. In general, though, I hope the creators keep it up, and may their tribe increase.

And I will take a look at it, I promise!

ETA: Just started watching this and already I want to kick the guy with the mustache in the head. I suspect this is the desired effect. *g*

That's Randy. And yeah, I suspect so, but he's always the annoying guy. For example, he gets into fights with other fathers at his son's little league games. So it's par for the course for him.

B5 favourite show of all time

Indeed, I have been a B5 fanatic since it first aired in the UK back in the 90's. About 4 years ago I went out and bought the entire series on DVD, best £350 I have ever spent!
I also have written a couple of reviews on the show, which might give those who have recently encountered the B5 Universe a bit of an insight into the show.
here's one if you would like to view it.

I need to get the first and fifth seasons on DVD.

Oh, I've seen the whole thing, way back when it was broadcast. I haven't seen S1 or 5 since then, though. S3 is my favourite, but yeah, the last ep was pretty intense.

I only saw one episode (the X-Files parody). I heard it had been cancelled and I hate watching not-finished stories. I may get to it eventually, though.
