They're apparently fun little fake dragon eggs that you help to fake hatch and fake grow up. There is breeding involved, later so that you can get different colours and things.
(Disclaimeresque thingy: Before I joined the site I made sure it was just fun stuff like that and not like, say Neopets (which um, not twelve *g*) and did not involve sparkly unicorn things in any way, shape or form. Um.)
I've been on the Neopet site, but not for years. It's WAY too sparklypoo. I think I mostly wanted to do the dragon thing so I could name them. I mean, it's not like I'm gonna have any more kids. ;)
No, no, I can't do this. *runs away* A few months ago I set up a polar bear at some website run by, like, the EPA or somebody raising environmental awareness. The idea was, he was like a virtual pet -- you were supposed to come back and play with him and feed him and exercise him and all, and he'd get sick if you didn't. I haven't been back in months... I'm sure he's wasting away.... The guilt is, and I am not kidding, huge. I have actually cried over my neglect of my virtual polar bear (because he represents the plight of real polar bears, of course). I am very bad with virtual pets!!!
Hehee! I don't have to play with it, just sorta manipulate the stats. Once it's grown, you don't have to do anything with it. So it's not a long commitment. :)

Ah the ever changing icons. It's an LJ bug that's been going on for months. Happened to one of my icons. In the end I deleted it. There is a fix but I can't remember what it is.
