do you know what's in your cosmetics?

Apparently there is legislation tabled (in the US) to help deal with the problem, but I don't think anything's been voted on. I'm also interested in what the rest of the world is doing to regulate the industry (I'm guessing it's more than the US has, which until the recent legislation has been pretty much nothing). Anyone know? I could look it up, but I really, really should be doing my PowerPoint slides.

Speaking as a perpetual "canary in the mine shaft" who really reacts to chemicals, I am going to start checking bottles. I've been migrating toward organic foods in an attempt to clean up my body and return to something like a natural physical state. But this is a whole 'nother kettle of fish to ponder.

I actually use relatively few cosmetics. I rarely wear makeup (I save it for special occasions because it makes my chronic blepharitis worse). I also generally use essential oils for fragrance (sandalwood is my current scent of choice). I do use hair products, though, and I'm looking into organics. I've heard good things about Terressentials--apparently they work well and are certified organic, which isn't the case with most of those other "organic" and "all-natural" products out there.
