whirling like a cyclone in my mind

Day 7: One band/singer you're ashamed to admit you like.

I'm really not ashamed at all to admit that I like Barry Manilow, but apparently there are some people who think I should be. I don't get it--this guy is really, really talented. I was a hardcore fan in high school, and I still love his stuff. This one is my favourite:

Day 1: Your favourite song
Day 2: A song that makes you cry.
Day 3: A song that makes you dance.
Day 4: Your favourite male singer.
Day 5: Your favourite female singer.
Day 6: Your favourite band.
Day 7: One band/singer you're ashamed to admit you like.
Day 8: One band/singer whose popularity you will never understand.
Day 9: A song that reminds you of an ex.
Day 10: A song that reminds you of your father.
Day 11: A song that reminds you of your mother.
Day 12: A song that makes you want to have sex.
Day 13: A song you sing in the shower.
Day 14: A song from the year you were born.
Day 15: A song you liked in high school.
Day 16: The first song in your mp3 folder.
Day 17: The last song in your mp3 folder.
Day 18: An instrumental song you like.
Day 19: Your favourite love song.
Day 20: Your favourite breakup song.
Day 21: A song that makes you want to break stuff.
Day 22: Your favourite song from a movie.
Day 23: Your favourite duet.
Day 24: Your favourite cover song.
Day 25: Your favourite song from 2010 (so far)
Day 26: Your favourite movie video.
Day 27: One song in your mp3 folder you're pretty sure no one else has.
Day 28: One song that needs to never be played again.
Day 29: One song that gives you the creeps.
Day 30: A song you'd like played at your funeral.

*fistbump*

Barry Manilow was my first concert (my folks took me when I was a wee!miz) and is still th eperson I've seen perform live the most (4 or 5 times total). I think he's a lot of fun, entertaining, and the love he has for performing shines through.

I don't love everything he's done, but I still enjoy him, and when people ask about my musical tastes, I let them know I like everything from Manilow to Manson.

I had a dorky, pretty much non-sexual crush on him back in the day. He's got an amazing talent and he's also quite the comedian. I used to watch all the specials he had on TV.

Don't be hating the Manilow!!

Host: "My question first. And answer true, because you know I'll know. Why Mandy?"

Angel: "Well, I…I know the words. I kind of think it's pretty."

Host: "And it is, you great, big sap! There is not a destroyer of worlds that can argue with Manilow and good for you for fessin' up. She'll be at Forth and Spring. The trial will be there."

Doing the total opposite of hating the Manilow. &hearts

There is not a destroyer of worlds that can argue with Manilow

Word. (also, this dialogue is from where?)

It's from an episode of Angel. There's a demon who can get a read on people's thoughts, emotions, and their future, if they sing. So of course, he runs a karaoke bar! He's just called the Host for a long time, but he's also known as Lorne.

Angel sings Mandy for him to get a read, and that's how Lorne responds. :D

I definitely have to watch Angel, because apparently my "I don't want to watch Angel because I didn't like him in Buffy" excuse doesn't hold any water. Not just because fangirls won't let it, but also because the show is really good. Or so I hear.

Also, it's your first line that confused me on hating the Manilow!

I'm really ashamed at all to admit that I like Barry Manilow, but apparently there are some people who think I should be.

Did you mean you're really NOT ashamed? :D

There, fixed. Yeah, that's what I meant. Yay typos.

I totally back you on this one.

He's one of the favorite targets of what I call music snobs ... but really, all of the music snobs I know were born too late to appreciate this stuff the first time around. Instead of really listening, they caricature that time period.

It's the same kind of thing where the lit snobs dump on Stephen King when most of them have never even picked up one of his books.

I'm an unabashed Manilow fan. I'd love to see him in concert.

I seem to have to apologize for quite a bit of things that I love. Barry is one of them. But I proudly admit that I love him and embarrass my husband no end (his fault, he knew I openly loved all sorts of embarrassing things when he married me).

Go you! We stand tall together.

I don't apologize, but people don't get it. People, obviously, who think the only thing Barry ever did is "I Write the Songs" or something. :/

Go you! We stand tall together

I'll definitely have to check his tour schedule (if he has one).
