Now for me, this would be Doctor Beverly Crusher. When I was in university, I thought she was the most awesome character ever. She was calm, cool, and collected. She was tough when she needed to be, but she was gentle when she needed to be too. It didn't hurt that I wrote Gates McFadden a letter and she wrote me an actual, genuine letter back when the rest of the cast just sent form letters.

Yes, she did. It was so awesome for my fangirl heart. :) It wasn't a very long letter--it just said something like thanks for writing and liking Beverly and that she liked the poem I sent (Yes, 19 year old me tried her hand at poetry, and I wrote one inspired by Beverly and sent it to her.)--but I thought she was the greatest for answering me.

I was a fan of rare ships even then. LOL. While I liked Picard/Crusher, my main ship was...Crusher/Riker. I blame Odan. (In case you don't remember, that was the Trill inside of Will when he and Beverly slept together.) That episode was one of the first I saw, and I couldn't get over the chemistry between the two characters.

You noticed my icon! :) It took me forever to make that last night (I think I actually sent you the larger version because I was excited when I finished.), but I really like it. I also wanted to inspire myself, so I made my LJ layout "Melting the Ice Queen", with a banner that it took me three hours to make this afternoon. (Sad, but I am *not* a graphics person. In fact, I generally stink in the graphics area. Add to that that it is almost impossible to find pics of Meg and Ray together and...it was quite an undertaking. Fun, though.)

Icons, graphics, banners...I am obsessing way too much over this story. I'm having so much fun writing possible scenes from throughout the story that I am seriously neglecting the beginning.

No worries about the snippets. They were more for opinions and comments and suggestions anyway, and they are from waaaay later in the story. I think I'll have the next chronological bit done enough to send you by Sunday, but, as always, take as much time as you need. You are not going to get any pressure from me whatsoever because I'm just happy that I have someone who actually wants to read this story. :)

Supertruefax coming up: When I was younger one day I wanted to be Spock and the next I wanted to shag him. I could never quite decide.

My husband eventually clarified this for me years later when he said something like "Don't be daft, you could never be Spock. You're Kirk." Which also went a long way towards explaining why I've always found Kirk so bloody irritating.
