I could care less about:

1. whether George W. Bush ever spent a single day with the National Guard thirty years ago.

2. whether John Kerry ever had Botox treatments, or ever had a picture taken with Jane Fonda.

3. whether Howard Dean went skiing after his medical deferrment(sp?).

I do care about:

Health care
The economy
Unemployment
Education
Clean Air, clean water, clean food, the environment
AIDS
GLBT rights
Womens' rights
Iraq
The "War on Terror"
The Patriot Act

And y'know? None of these things are going to be affected by Dubya's military record, Howard Dean's ski itinerary, or Kerry's botox treatments any more than Monica Lewinski's stained dress affected the economy, the military, or the budget surplus under Bill Clinton.

It just doesn't matter to me, and I don't see why any of these silly things that happened so long ago can matter to anyone, left or right, when faced with the real issues that are happening today.

I've said it before, people need to stop being knee-jerky about stuff and grow actual opinions. This means you too, oh, mis compadres on the Left.

I'm not voting for Dubya, but his military service record has nothing to do with why.

Word!

It's not as if there isn't a lot of important stuff that shows Bush up badly on the credibility/character issue. Like misleading the world about Saddam's WMDs. All this military service 'debate' is so missing the point.

The Dallas Morning News yesterday was saying that all the emphasis on military records, war protesting, Botox, etc. was a sign that this presidential campaign is going to be one of the nastiest on record and they'll stop at nothing.

I'm not voting for Bush for the same reasons you likely aren't. I could give a flying fuck about his military record... it's just more proof of what a flatulent, hypocritical pusbag he is.

I saw the pic of Kerry with Fonda on the front page of the New York Times last week, and just laughed out loud. At first I felt sorry for anyone who would still care about that, and then with a shudder I realized I know people who are really going to be outraged over it ... which is scary shit, 'cause they get to vote, and drive, and reproduce and shit.
