You know what? I honestly don't know. It would definitely depend on who it was (there's a pretty long list). But I would definitely say something. I'd like to think I'd ask for an apology. I'd like to think they'd give me one.

No, but I'm sure it sucks as much as RL bullying, of which I have been the target plenty of times. Any kind of bullying leaves scars and sometimes even kills people.

Also, wtf does "Personality goes a long way" mean? If you have a certain personality you won't be bullied? Won't bully? Huh? Does not compute.

Link from [livejournal.com profile] pegkerr:

Pink Shirt Day stems from this story of two boys from Cambridge, NS who started the campaign in support of a fellow classmate who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. The movement is apparently growing all over the world now, something I didn't know until [livejournal.com profile] pegkerr posted the link in her LJ.

So, yeah. Go search your closets or make a trip to the local thrift store and get yourself a pink shirt. You still have a couple of days to do it. IT'S IMPORTANT, GUYS.

Oh, yeah, and the Facebook group is here.

Dear Rick Mercer,

You know what I wish? I wish you'd been around back when I was in junior high. I could have used a kickass GBF like you to keep the cretins away.

Just when I think my adoration for you can go no higher, you get even more awesome.

What I'm saying basically is that you rock so hard the neighbours can't sleep. I'm just sayin'.

Even more love,

Me

"[F]or a lot of kids out there going to school doesn't rank right up there as the best days of their life. No, because they're different in some way, they look at it like some sort of prison sentence. And you can't blame them really. I mean you walk in the door when you're five years old, they keep you for twelve years, you're not allowed to leave. Cripes, in this country, you do less time for murder."

It does get better )

Original blog post is here.

I need a Rick Mercer icon, yes I do.

I found this completely by accident. What an introduction to this band. I officially love them even before hearing anything else they've recorded, just because they did this. Everyone go buy their albums. With money. Pay twice.

In case you missed the link at the end, the address is kidshelpphone.ca. There are groups like it in the UK. There's not much in the US, unfortunately. Wake up, America. These are your kids.

And then there's this one:

I've been in love with the song from the second I heard it years ago, and the video is gorgeous. My only criticism is that the men kissing look too much alike, which I think takes away from the point. But the girl with the braces? That was me (only without the braces). I thought she deserved an icon; it's one of my oldest.
