There's been discussion both on taradiane's and rakshi's LJs of whether Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood resemble each other.

Now, I figured my bringing this subject up might bring about a bunch o' objections. So, I thought I'd do a little test. Decide for yourself, y'all.

Probably the best way to figure this out is to look at pictures of both of them at the same age. Daniel will be fifteen in July of this year (kill me now for knowing that, k?).

This picture of not-quite-fifteen-year-old Dan is from a recent Roadshow magazine:




There's certainly a resemblance, and I think they could easily be mistaken for brothers. Still, there's a lot of pics of both of them that don't look at all alike (By this I mean lots of separate pictures. I don't actually know if they've ever met. Anyone know?). When they smile, they look totally different, however. Dan's doesn't have the gap in his teeth, and their facial expressions aren't alike.

Still, especially in these two shots, yeah. I see it.[/copy/paste]

It's interesting to see the reactions to the comparison on each LJ.

This one is mostly fans of Elijah and this one is mostly fans of Tara's w00blet.

Rak and Tara are both lovely in their own right, o'course. *hugs them*


I'm not even going to tell y'all how long it took me code all this. Life? Moi?.

Ha! I'm one of those who DO see the resemblance, but since I'm such a H/D fanatic and I prefer the movie counterparts live up to my expectations of them-- I really hope Dan will "grow out of" the Elijah-look-alike stage SOON. I mean Elijan is of course cute and lovely, but he looks too much a kicked puppy for my liking.

Elijah is very lovely, but I think the growing-up phase is still in process with him. He's all angles and gangly limbs at this point, even at his advanced early twenties age. He was ethereal in his youth, and I think he'll be unclassically beautiful in his maturity. Doesn't matter much, really, because Elijah just exudes Sweet, Cool Guy vibes. I'll still love him if he gains a hundred pounds and dyes his hair orange.

Daniel's all potential. He doesn't have the angular features hidden in the teenage bones that Elijah had. Maybe he'll fly straight through the awkward phase. He also gives off the same Nice Guy energy. *hugs him*

Okay, firstly, Elijah's collarbones mmmmmmmmmm. ;)And Dan looking all strike>grown up and manly terribly jailbait NOT GOOD FOR MY HORMONES NNNNG.

They won't look alike, have no fear. They might be similarly build and of similar height (ahahahah Dan ahahah! *coughs*), but Elijah still has those friggin lamplike eyes and Dan is getting a sort of perpetual-baggages-under-the-eyes look, like he's shortsighted and trying to look without his glasses on. Also Elijah has a better nose. :D *is obsessive about good noses*

If the LotR and Harry Potter films weren't released so closely together we wouldn't even be discussing this. *shrugs*

Dan's gonna be taller than Elijah, I think. And yeah, Elijah has those eyes and stuff. Elijah's more angular than Dan, as well.

Aw, coveting Elijah is alright, you know. The guy is in his 20s. And anyway, I'm too old to covet Dan too. Anyone over 16 is too old to covet Dan (I'm not 16 years old, don't worry).

See, Prim, you know where I stand on the whole "Elijah-is-the-most-beautiful-human-being-ever-to-walk-the-planet" thing. Dan's a cutie, but I thought he was a much cuter little boy than he is now.... *waits for Dan-fans to throw things*

But in related news, my mother called me the other day to tell me that she and my father rented the first HP movie (!), and she'd spent the whole movie watching "Harry" and saying, "He looks so much like Elijah... he looks so much like Elijah...! Could they be related?" So she calls me up, in New Jersey mind you, to ask me if "the boy who played Harry Potter" is related to Elijah Wood. I laughed til tears streamed down my face that my 60-year-old mom noticed/asked this. And that she's that familiar with Elijah's face (well, hi, he was plastered all over my room for two years before I moved....).

I think Dan's adorable. :D He's going to have his own look as he grows, though. I mean, you can find pictures like these two (which I picked because of the resemblance), but really, they don't look alike at all, save general colouring. They're not even built alike. Elijah's all angles and slender, and Dan's more solid.
